Question: Do I need to update my NAPNES Pharmacology Certificate every five years?

Answer:

No, this is the policy of NAPNES. As long as you are passing medications in the State of Ohio, the Ohio Board of Nursing is satisfied with the NAPNES course you have taken and if YOUR OHIO LICENSE REFLECTS "MEDS - YES", it is not necessary for you to update that certificate.

However, if your employer requires you update your certificate or you move to another state that would require this,

Contact NAPNES, National Association for Practical Nurse Education and Service, Inc.: P O Box 25647 Alexandria, VA 22313
Phone: 703-933-1003 Fax: 703-940-4089

Question: I have lost my NAPNES card and my Ohio License says "MEDS - NO", what should I do?

Answer: If you have taken the NAPNES course or challenged that course, call LPNAO at 1-800-222-5762 for a copy of your record and a letter to verify that record.

This information can then be copied and sent to the Ohio Board of Nursing for review and you should receive your license with "MEDS - YES" on it.

Question: When do I need to have the 1 Contact Hour on the Laws and Rules?

Answer: Beginning with your license renewal in 2004 and every renewal thereafter.
